Jeff Mertens has over 25 years of experience in the
construction industry, working both in the United States and overseas. He
has had personal responsibility for $1.3 billion in new business for two
national construction firms and direct project experience on multi-million
dollar luxury condominiums on Florida’s west coast. He has estimated
projects valued from five to fifty million dollars. He is the owner of
Arrow-Sun Builders – an affordable housing construction company.
Jeff is also an experienced speaker and a Distinguished Toastmaster. Jeff

 | Arrow-Sun Builders, LLC – Owner of an innovative affordable
housing company that uses various systems to deliver hurricane resistant
“green” housing environments. |
 | BCBE, Incorporated – Warranty and Customer Service Manager –
Sarasota Region, Assistant Project Manager on a $50 million condominium
for Taylor Woodrow and the Ritz Carlton in Sarasota, Florida. |
 | AMEC Construction Management – Project Development Manager for
the Washington DC region pursuing major government contracts, including
the National Archives renovation ($75 million), the American Indian Museum
($125 million) and work at the Pentagon. This office was responsible for
the reconstruction of the Pentagon after 9/11. |
 | Jacobs Facilities, Inc. (formerly CRSS Constructors, Inc.) -
Project Development Manager for the eastern US. Mr. Mertens targeted key
opportunities over $50 million from Maine to Florida and the Ohio Valley
resulting in $1.3 billion in contracts won. Mr. Mertens taught a
communications program called “Speaking for Excellence” to 15 project
leaders resulting in new sales at the project level. |
 | Donohoe Construction Company - Business Developer, Richmond,
Virginia 1989-1992. Starting as an Estimator he performed detailed
quantity take-offs on projects valued from $5 – 50 million. As Business
Developer he helped the company expand into North Carolina resulting in
annual Richmond office volume of $20-30 million and new Raleigh office
volume of $30 million. |
